I absolutely love tented estate weddings, especially wedding receptions. They are blank canvases on which my couples, together with their designers and florists, have realized their wedding visions. So I was especially honored to have Greenwich Tent Company feature me on their blog today, where they write about my photography career and my love of tent wedding venues!

Below are a few of my favorite photos from tent wedding receptions in New York and Connecticut that feature the Greenwich Tent Company‘s beautiful Sperry sailcloth tents. Tents are featured mostly at backyard estate weddings, and some wedding venues have the option of having a tent on site. A few of the venues that I absolutely love working at that have fixed tents on site are Manursing Island Club in Rye, NY (my personal favorite), Riverside Yacht Club in Riverside, CT & Belle Haven Country Club, in Greenwich, CT. When scouting my locations days before the actual wedding date, I’ve had the opportunity to watch their crew transform uneven grounds, swimming pools and even small hillsides, in to stable dance floors, supporting upwards of 300 guests. I love that a tent can transform your estate grounds into a very comfortable and magical wedding venue, each unique and representative of the couple’s signature wedding vision.

When you are considering a tent for your estate wedding, make sure to hire a planner who has a great deal of experience with tented weddings, my favorite is Ashley Douglass Events, who put together several of the weddings you see below. I have arranged the photos from the early afternoon to midnight, so you can view that special “Sperry Tent Glow,” a soft color that radiates through the tent as the sun goes down. All weddings below are from real weddings at private estates in Greenwich, Wilton, New Canaan, Westport, New Canaan, Litchfield County and The Hamptons with the exception of the Belle Haven Club in Connecticut and Longhouse Reserve in The Hamptons, who feature Sperry Tents exclusively.
